This is not a “How To” post because I don’t think there is ever a way to say goodbye to your pet – no matter how old they are.

Today we had to say goodbye to our toy poodle, Mousse. Being the owner of a 20 year old dog, it was inevitable that this day would come. However, no matter how prepared I was to let him go, seeing his little face at the vet for the last time was still very heartbreaking.  Suddenly all the memories of the day I adopted him, him bouncing up and down the hallway of our first apartment and weekends spent snuggling to Sex and the City re-runs all came flooding back. He was there for my first job, for the late nights studying for exams and even the namesake of my blog! I liked to joke that he was the longest boyfriend I’ve ever had. I’m really going to miss you, little guy. I hope they have KFC in puppy heaven. RIP.

  1. I hope you’re doing better now! I find comfort in imagining all our fur babies running around happily in heaven. They’re waiting for us at the rainbow bridge 🙂
