Now that I’m on maternity leave, I am always looking for something to do during the day. Baby and I used to love hitting up outdoor wading pools or going to the baby spa but now that the weather is getting colder, spending too much time outdoors or wet are not always feasible anymore.
Today I want to share with you my favourite places to go with my baby during colder weather. Most of these spots have admission fees however, annual memberships are a pretty good value if you plan to spend a lot of time indoors during the winter!
Hope you enjoy my recommendations!

The Royal Ontario Museum | www.rom.on.ca
Price: $23 One-time Adult Admission; $195 annual family membership (for 2 adults & 4 children)
Hours: 10AM – 5:30PM weekdays
The ROM is my #1 favourite spot to visit with baby. Though one-time admission is on the expensive side, they do have a free indigenous exhibit in the west wing. Annual family memberships are also a great deal for families with multiple children because you’ll have access to member-only events and special museum hours. The ROM is not only stroller-friendly but there are also comfortable washrooms and nursing areas.
Toronto Botanical Gardens | https://torontobotanicalgarden.ca/
Price: Free admission
Open from dusk to dawn, the Toronto Botanical Gardens, is a greenhouse located in Allen Gardens right next to Ryerson University (now known as Toronto Metropolitan University). It is free year-round and host a variety of educational and fun events.
Ripley’s Aquarium | https://www.ripleyaquariums.com/canada/
Price: $33 one-time Adult Admission; $80 annual Adult membership (one adult)
Ripley’s has one of the more pricey admission fees at $33. This fee is for the Timed Tickets which also means you need to reserve your ticket and time slot ahead of time. If you want to arrive and enter, the fee is actually $39 which is why an annual membership is a much better value if you are a local (and plan to go more than twice per year). There is a designated kids area for children and for babies in strollers, there are also many things to see.
Art Gallery of Toronto | https://ago.ca/
Price: Free under 25; $35 annual membership or $25 one-time admission
Not only is the AGO free from under 25 patrons but they are also free on Wednesday evenings making going to the AGO very accessible to the public. Similar to the ROM, it is very stroller-friendly with lots to see.
Toronto Public Library | https://www.torontopubliclibrary.ca/
Price: Free
Most TPL branches have elevators, changing tables, and cozy children’s sections with soft flooring and stroller parking. Programs like “Baby Time” or “Ready for Reading” give you a solid excuse to get out of the house and socialize with other mommy and babies in the area. We loved going to puppet shows and other special events at the TPL branches.
The Bentway | https://www.thebentway.ca/
Price: Free
They have skating in winter, art installations in summer and wide stroller-friendly trails all year long. Bonus: it’s steps from Stackt Market if you need snacks or a diaper change with dignity.
Stackt Market | https://stacktmarket.com/
Price: Free
There are trendy shops, stroller-accessible patios, lots of food options and pop-ups that often include baby-friendly brands and events. The local brewery in the area (Blue Moon Brewery) is also a great spot to host mommy and me gatherings and is often flooded with mommys with strollers during the week. It is a very weekday-walk friendly spot, especially with coffee in hand.
St. Lawrence Market | https://www.stlawrencemarket.com/
Price: Free
This spot wasn’t always stroller-friendly but with renovations and the new St. Lawrence Market North, it is now a weekday stroller-heaven. There is plenty of space to roll through food stalls, friendly vendors, and some surprisingly kid-friendly seating nooks. Note: there is an elevator to the lower level.
Evergreen Brick Works | https://www.evergreen.ca/evergreen-brick-works/
Price: Free
If you are outdoorsy, you’ll love the flat gravel trails like the Beltline Trail. They are perfect for rugged strollers and a great way to spend time in nature with your little one. Weekends bring markets and food vendors. Indoors, there’s a café and stroller-friendly community space. Good weather makes this place an overall parenting win.
